Making it Easy to Choose Earth: Stojo Collapsible Cup Review
By Sara Baird.
What is Stojo?
Stojo is a company that is committed to designing earth-conscious products that add to your life. The company was started by three New York fathers who wanted to make it easier to make eco-friendly choices when living busy lives. Stojo sells a variety of collapsible products including cups, water bottles, and bowls as portable sustainable options. They sent me a 24 oz aquamarine cup to try out.
The Cup
The silicon parts of Stojos are made of LFGB certified platinum food-grade silicone, LFGB certified means that it has passed testing for European standards of food safety. The plastic parts are made of FDA-grade Polypropylene or # 5 recyclable plastic. The cups are microwave and dishwasher safe and free of BPA’s, BPSs, phthalates, lead, and adhesives. The body of the cups is silicone and the removable collar, lid, sleeve, and tab are plastic. Each cup comes with a sleeve to protect your hands from hot beverages, this makes the cups sturdier when you hold them. The 16 oz and 24 oz cups come with a straw. I received a beautiful blue 24 oz cup for the Stojo Collapsible Cup Review.
Testing It Out with Water
I enjoyed playing with the cup to test it out. I received it right as I was heading out to the garden to start preparing it for planting. I washed the cup quickly and filled it with cold water to bring out to the garden with me. At home I usually carry around quart jars or plastic water bottles, I enjoyed being able to sip from the straw as I was working. The water stayed pretty cool for the hour it lasted even though it was a pretty warm day.
I live in fear of forgetting my water bottle when out of the house. Even more so as it is harder to find a place to get a drink of water with Covid restrictions. I took comfort in being able to carry this cup in my purse so I always had an option to fill up my water when it was available. I took it on a recent road trip along with my usual trusty wide-mouth water bottle. It was nice to have the cup as another option. I was able to fill it with ice and water on a couple of hot days and enjoy sipping it. One 90 degrees Fahrenheit day I left it in the car with ice water and was surprised to find it still contained ice about 3 hours later. It was very nice to have everywhere I went.

The Hot Coffee Test
I also tried it out with coffee. I am trying to cut back on my coffee consumption so when my coffee maker broke, I simply started using the pour-over I use for camping to brew a single cup. Knowing that if I was using this cup for coffee traveling this is what I would brew it with I thought I would try it out.
The cup was stable during the brewing process. I found it was easy to drink coffee out of the cup with the cover off but once the cover was on it was a bit awkward. The lid was a bit too chunky to comfortably drink hot liquids from it. I imagine this would not be an issue with the smaller cups. With the lid on I did not spill coffee as I carried it around and the coffee stayed warm for about an hour. I also was curious to find out if my water would later taste like coffee and was relieved that all of the coffee’s tastes and the smell were easily washed out by hand.
My Thoughts – Stojo collapsible cup review
I really liked the color and look of this cup as well as the portability. As a water bottle devotee, I didn’t know how much I would care if I had a collapsible cup with me but it was nice to have something else to drink out of. I would think it would also be nice if you were drinking something other than water. This cup is a bit big and clunky for coffee, it works but I am speculating a smaller cup would better serve that purpose. Now that I have used the 24 oz cup I think I may have been happier with a 16oz cup for both portability and ease of use.
Overall, I found that the Stojo cups are well made, pretty, and handy to have along. Their products would be useful for camping, traveling, or simply everyday use.
